Privacy Policy

What this policy covers

This policy covers help.perixx.com: the Help Center articles, the contact form, and support email exchanged with our team. Purchases and customer accounts on the perixx.com shop are covered by the shop's own privacy policy at https://perixx.com/policies/privacy-policy.

Who we are

Perixx Computer GmbH, Heerdter Landstraße 189e, 40549 Düsseldorf, Germany, is the data controller for help.perixx.com. For privacy questions, email dataprotection@perixx.com.

What we collect and why

When you submit our contact form, we collect the name, email, country, order details, message, and any attachments you provide. We use this only to answer your support request. Our hosting also keeps short-term server logs (IP, browser, timestamp) for security.

Legal basis under GDPR: Article 6(1)(b) for handling your request, Article 6(1)(f) for security.

Help Center usage statistics

To improve our articles and search, we record how the Help Center is used. This happens in two tiers, depending on your choice in the cookie banner.

Always, regardless of your choice in the banner, we record anonymous usage events:

  • which page you view (home, category, section, article, or search results) and in which language
  • what you search for and how many results the search returns
  • your answer to "Was this article helpful?" and, if you answer No, which of the fixed reasons you choose
  • whether you open the contact link from an article or from a search page
  • whether you use a mobile-sized or desktop-sized screen
  • the type of site you came from (a search engine, the perixx.com shop, another Help Center page, or other), never the full address
  • the date and time

These events contain no cookies, no identifier of any kind, and no IP address. We cannot link them to you or to each other. Our server looks at your IP address for a moment, to limit abuse and to leave out visits that are not from customers, and never stores it.

Only if you click "Accept All" in the cookie banner, we additionally store a random identifier in your browser's local storage and attach it to the events above. This lets us see which sequence of pages leads to a contact request. The identifier says nothing about who you are. It is created only after you accept and is deleted from your browser as soon as you withdraw your consent via "Cookie Settings" in the footer.

If you open the contact form from an article or from a search, the article id or your search term is attached to your support request. This tells us which topics still lead to support requests. It is part of your request and is handled and kept like the rest of it.

Legal basis under GDPR: Article 6(1)(f) (our legitimate interest in improving the Help Center) for the anonymous statistics; your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25 TDDDG (formerly TTDSG) for the browser identifier.

Who processes your data for us

  • Supabase, Inc. — database (EU region)
  • ActiveCampaign LLC (Postmark) — email delivery (US)
  • Cloudflare, Inc. — bot protection on the contact form
  • Hetzner Online GmbH — hosting (Germany)

We have a data processing agreement (Auftragsverarbeitungsvertrag) in place with each processor. For transfers to the US, we rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

How long we keep it

Support emails and contact form submissions: kept while your case is open and for up to 24 months after, then deleted. Server logs: up to 30 days. Records required by German tax or commercial law are kept for the statutory period (6 or 10 years).

Help Center usage events: 13 months, then deleted. After that, only daily totals remain (for example, how often an article was viewed on a given day). These totals contain no individual events and are kept indefinitely.

Cookies

We use only strictly necessary cookies and storage: your language choice for the Help Center (a cookie, kept for one year) and your cookie consent choice (stored in your browser's local storage). We set no analytics or marketing cookies. If you accept in the cookie banner, we additionally store the random identifier described under Help Center usage statistics in your browser's local storage. You can change your choice at any time via "Cookie Settings" in the footer. If you reject, the identifier is removed from your browser; the anonymous usage statistics, which use no cookies and no identifier, continue.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, delete, or restrict your data, or to object to processing. To exercise these rights, email dataprotection@perixx.com. If you are in the EU/EEA, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. If you are in California (CCPA) or Japan (APPI), the same rights apply — contact us and we will respond.
